Changes to Energy Efficiency Standards

Amendments have been made and put into effect in standards that establish energy efficiency requirements and methods of evaluation.

By the Decree of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus dated August 24, 2022 No. 82 “On Changing the State Standards of the Republic of Belarus”, changes were made and put into effect in the state standards* that establish requirements and methods for monitoring energy efficiency, including labeling requirements, washing machines and household dishwashers, external power supplies, household refrigeration appliances, lamps with non-directional light emission (hereinafter referred to as standards, amendments to standards, requirements for energy efficiency).

Amendments to the standards were developed by JSC BELLIS with the direct participation of the Technical Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus TC BY 32 Energy Efficiency.

The above types of products and standards are included in the list of objects of mandatory conformity assessment of the National System of Conformity Assessment of the Republic of Belarus, approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated October 21, 2016 No. 849 “On Certain Issues of Conformity Assessment in the National System of Conformity Assessment of the Republic of Belarus”.

Changes to the standards establish requirements for the energy efficiency of products, depending on their compliance with the requirements of certain EU Commission Regulations specified in the standards.

At the same time, the changes made do not cancel the previously established requirements, but include in the standards an alternative version of the requirements for the energy efficiency of products manufactured in accordance with the current Regulations of the EU Commission, which, being more energy-saving, may not meet the requirements previously established in the standards.

When forming this approach, both the interest of Belarusian manufacturers in the production of competitive products that meet the most relevant requirements in the field of energy efficiency and the need to maintain the possibility of entering the market of products that meet the energy efficiency requirements of the previously established level of energy efficiency requirements were taken into account in order to prevent a shortage of products on the market.
